GRNSA Meet

Hello All,
Great meet today. I saw a lot of time improvements and some good first swims by our team. Due to a scoring error by GRNSA we actually ended up winning the meet(During summer season 15&Overs do not score). The final score was GRNSA 355 and Grandville 363, good job team.

If you show up to practice tomorrow, try to celebrate by convincing your coach to let them get pushed in the pool.

Summer Informational Flyer

Hello All,
There will be an informational flyer coming home with students next week. I have included the information below.

Grandville Bulldog Swimming
Age Group
The Grandville Bulldog Swimming (GBDS) program is designed to give children the opportunity to progress from beginning swimming to championship levels.  Your child will learn better stroke technique and gain confidence in competition against others their age and gender.  Swimmers must be able to swim the shortest race of his/her age group—freestyle and backstroke.

We encourage all swimmers to attend practices as frequently as they can, given time commitments and other opportunities for personal growth outside the pool.  If you feel GBDS is the right fit for you, there are a few dates for which you come and register.

*PLACEMENT DATE--ALL NEW SWIMMERS will be April 24th and 26th at the High School Pool during registration*
All new swimmers will be evaluated before the season begins, in order to determine if the swimmer is physically ready for the demands that will be placed on him/her.  We want all swimmers to be successful and proficient in practice and meets.  In some cases, the swimmer may not be ready for the current season.  Therefore, the coach will suggest taking a session of swim lessons to build that proficiency, and then have them try the swim team the next season.

Practice begins Tuesday, May 9th, 2017
Please note-- practice schedules are subject to change!

Sad to say

Dear Parents,
Working with you and your kids these past few years has been a pleasure and so rewarding. Coming into the pool for practice and seeing their eager faces, just as excited to as mine to jump in the pool has made my decision to resign as head coach a hard one. At the end of the month I will start a new adventure on the east side of the state with my fiance. Jessie Wortman will be taking over after the season is done. He has been great asset to the program the last couple years and I can not wait to see what he does for the program in the future.
Thank you for putting your trust in me when it came to teaching your kids. I want to wish all the swimmers good luck as they continue to beat their times and improve. Thank you all for your understanding and well wishes!

Entries for Saturdays meet

Now on the website are entries for Saturdays meet. Please note that relays may change due to attendance. Also on Saturday we are having close to 350 kids at this meet so we are going to have the swimmers sit on the indoor track. With that in mind please be sure to pack extra towels and warm clothes for them to put on in between events, it gets a little cold in there for the little ones.

Also since we are sitting on the track we are in search of a couple parents to help with marshaling our kids to events so coaches can watch some races. If you are able to help please talk to Coach Bri.

Finally if you are planning on being at practice on Friday night and would like something to do we would love some help setting up for our meet the next morning. Just flag Coach Bri down Friday and she can find something for you to do.

Meet next Saturday

Next week Saturday we start our duel meet season with a tri-meet versus East Kentwood and Jenison. All swimmers will need to be on deck by 7:45am, with the meet itself starting at 9:00am. Entries for the meet will be posted in the hallway and online no later than Wednesday night. If your swimmer is not going to be able to make it please fill out the meet absent form asap.

Also now on the website and on the table in the stands is the volunteer assignments for the meet on the 14th. Timers will need to be ready for a timers meeting by 8:30am. If you are working concessions if you could be there by 8:00am for set up that would be great! Thank you in advance to all the parents helping out next weekend, we really appreciate it!

Finally if any one has taken home a suit that is not theirs can you please return it. I have a few swimmers who are looking for suits.

Any questions feel free to let me know.
